2023 G7 Sustainable Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting in Takamatsu, Kagawa (Japan)

In response to the wishes of the G7 countries, Japan, as the G7 Presidency in 2023, has decided to hold the second ministerial meeting (announced at the Chief Cabinet Secretary's press conference on August 30, 2022) as an excellent opportunity to discuss building international partnerships based on common principles and the development of sustainable cities in Japan.

Previous meeting (2022: Germany)

The first-ever G7 Ministerial Meeting for Urban Development was held in Potsdam, under the German 2022 G7 Presidency on September 13.

Mr. Saito, Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, attended from Japan.

The agenda includes (1) Urban Resilience, (2) Transformative Power of Cities, and (3) Joint Action as G7.



Responses from the G7 Countries

Emphasis on perspectives such as 'urban resilience' and 'addressing climate change'.
Recognition of the importance of an ongoing dialogue on sustainable urban development.
